Spring hues

FASHION POST FINALLY!! That's what my intention was when I started this blog because I love clothes and photography but didn't know how to make it actually happen but we're on a roll people on a roll I tell you! Today I had a really lazy day where I woke up at lunch time (this has been a frequent occurrence over the last few days). I don't know why i'm such a night owl and go to sleep really late for no reason. I've loved just sitting all cozy and looking at barefoot blonde's blog, hello fashion blog and Karissa Pukas' channel. They all seem like such lovely women who have the ultimate fashion sense and my inspiration for so many life goals haha... it's so true though.

Today I went shopping with my best friend and this is the relaxed yet sophisticated outfit I wore. I love the shirt it's so comfy and light considering it's so hot today. It was so nice to have a chilled day with some banter and a good window shop ;) Girl time is the best time!

Isn't my best friend so cute she bought me ice cream for my breakfast <3

I have a cabinet filled with teacups, teapots and books.... Stop me now ;)

Items:
Floral shirt - Glassons along time ago but similar ones I like here and here
Black skinny jeans - Junk Food jeans from Wildpair these are similar
Necklace - Eek not sure sorry!
Shoes - Number One Shoes but I like these too

Where have you lovelies been wandering today??

Oh So Nice Cream

Ohhhhh Yeah.  Nice Cream.

Picture some palm trees, salted, frazzled, windswept hair and that moment of satisfaction, when a creamy coconut mango ice cream delicately hits those tastebuds. Well picture no more because Nice Cream can give you that momentary satisfaction *palm trees, salted, frazzled, windswept hair not included ;)

For those of you who don't know what i'm talking about, it's an ice cream that's nice.
Who am I kidding there's more to it than that! Nice cream is created by the lovely Tommy & James and although I don't know them personally, i'm sure their lovely because their ice creams are lovely and it's kinda in the title, so lets just roll with that.... I tried my first EVER Nice Cream today and it was such a refreshing sweet taste after a good Thai lunch. MmmmMMMmm s o m u c h f o o d ! ! !

Back to the ice cream though, it's dairy free, gluten free and egg free. Did someone say perfect? No but I just did! It's also "ethically produced using natural and organic ingredients." Can we please just take a moment to appreciate that. Although I'm trying to eat as less refined sugars as possible, I decided I'd let myself have this one because at least it's fair-trade, so I think I made a pretty fair call (pun definitely intended).

But hey if you're not into mangos that's cool too because they have a range of different flavours that includes chocolate and vanilla bean... and yes they all have coconut, which is great because everyone needs more coconuts in their life!

125mL of Iced Coconut Cream Dessert.

B l i s s

oh and did I mention they also make Nice Blocks? I think you know where this is going... you can check everything out right about HERE or check out your local supermarket, dairy or cafe if you're a Kiwi :) (have an explore you're bound to bump into one!)

What's your favourite ice cream? I'd love to know! Anyone know of a great 'whole foods' one?

Annnnd study procrastination... done ;(

Timberlands.Leather Jackets.Plaid

My style is always changing... well it's not that i'm indecisive of how I want to dress (even though I stare at my wardrobe not even knowing what to pull out for the day) but rather I enjoy mixing things up. I like being sophisticated and graceful but then I also like being a bit more comfortably sporty and other times all rugged up and warm. But all in all the outcome has to reflect me and has to appeal to me. I can look good for myself right? I don't understand why people always assume that I and other girls alike always dress for certain people, because in reality that's not the aim. I personally just really like fashion because I think it shows a lot of your personality but also it's just fun and creative.

So moving along here are a few snaps of outfits that I'm loving at the moment:

This plaid jacket is really cozy and pretty warm providing you are wearing the right stuff underneath! It goes with everything.. here I'm wearing some velvety leggings but you can daily pair it with jeans. Also something that i've been wearing almost everyday is... my TIMBERLANDS. I love them so much! They are so comfy, go with almost everything and really good now that it's winter because my canvas shoes just end up getting soaked ;( but a little secret.. they aren't real Tims! They look pretty much identical everyone always assumes they're the real deal. If you're in NZ you can get them at Number One  but of course you can get the real deal at Timberlands. There are also some stores around NZ.

Another one of my fave items is my new leather furry jacket by Jorge. It's so cute and adds a bit of glam to a simple outfit. I picked this little number up at a boutique in Arrowtown called Ikon. Lastly in this section is the sunnies! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. I wanted some sunglasses that were kinda retro but very chic and had a bit of colour/reflectives in them and da ta I found some.... right at my very own workplace... the pharmacy!

Ok... this All About Eve cardigan is so cuddly I just want to curl up next to a fire and sip some mulled wine.. which is exactally what I did when I bought it haha!! Its a nice addition to your outfit thats cute, comfy and warm when you want to go outside but still look decent. Picked this up at the Ikon store in Arrowtown too. I love lounging around in it but be warned, the material can get caught and pull out on sharp things... but my clumsiness may have something to do with that ;)

What's something new you've added to your wardrobe recently??

My Beautiful Country

New Zealand has an immense amount of really pretty places and one of my most favourite is Queenstown in the South Island.

Queenstown has this crispy clean air that you definitely don't get in Auckland. When Auckland is cold it's uncomfortable but when Queenstown is cold it's refreshing. When Auckland is humid Queenstown is not!! No mugginess!! Ah bliss! When my hair smells like exhaust fumes in Auckland from walking around, in Queenstown... well I think you get the picture ;) And speaking of pictures it really is an exquisite place, it looks like someone paints the scenery everyday. Low flying cloud among the mountains and the gleaming lakes. It feels kinda strange you're at the supermarket and oh look its nestled into the mountains... what?? You definitely don't get that kind of everyday scenery in Auckland that's for sure!

So if you can't tell already, I went to Queenstown a couple of weeks ago and this was not my first time but my fourth!! Yup I really do love this place and it contains some pretty cool people too! So here are a few snaps of my recent trip...

Arrowtown - A cute historic town about 15 or 20 minutes from Queenstown. It is known for its gold panning days and you can still try this out yourself!

The Remarkables! One of the many awesome mountains in the area! There is also Coronet Peak and Cardrona which are great for snowboarding and skiing too. Just started learning to Snowboard and I love it!

Queenstown has its attractions like the Ice Bar! Fun times were had! For those of you that enjoy bungee jumping and parachuting and things like that, Queenstown is definitely for you because, after all, it is the adventure capital of New Zealand! But for those of you who aren't quite into those adrenaline rushes you have so many amazing restaurants, cafe, lakes, shops, wineries and other fun activities all around :)

A delicious hunters pie with a green juice at Jack's Point

Hope you will have the opportunity to visit Queenstown one day it's definitely a lovely experience and a great adventure!

Hope you all have a wonderful week wherever in the world you may be and remember to comment me some questions/ideas you'd like on this blog because then i'll be sure to update it more regularly than  have been.. oopsies ;)

Clean Eating.. I'm sorry clean what??

Eeek first off I want to say so sorry for not having posted in a while! I didn't intend on this happening, been pretty swamped with Uni lately.. oh the joys of student life haha.

Now that that's all cleared up lets get straight to business... Clean eating.

I'm definitely no clean eating saint, I have my days where I have good intentions on eating well through out the day but then I usually hit a wall somewhere along the way and slip up. Especially when you're busy you can feel that it's hard to make time to actually prepare your meals properly.

I have been trying to get more into clean eating and what that basically means is eating real, wholesome foods a.k.a not processed crap. Im trying to eat as less refined sugars and less foods that have been stripped from their natural nutrients.

I thought eating clean would be really boring and bland but oh boy that is so wrong! You can still make a lot of the same meals and snacks but just substituting some products for healthier alternatives. Also there are sooooo many nicer foods that are so good for you that you wouldn't even realise, it's actually all so exciting. I literally feel so happy right now just writing about it... what a weirdo I know.

Also I would just like to make a point that for me this whole healthy eating  is not to make people to be 'skinny'. Everyone is built differently so it's about being healthy and strong on the inside out, looking after yourself and being the best you that you can be in every way. Why would you want to put something damaging into you? And the effects really do show up as a result, whether it be health issues, skin issues or your energy.

So along with healthy eating this lifestyle journey is about things that affect your mind, body and spirit as a whole.

My foodie insta is @thehealthylife101 if you want to keep updated with my food musings/get ideas. Definitely check out some other bloggers who have amazing recipes and advice and are just inspiring :) I'll post some pics from some of my fave blogs with their instagram. Yay!

P.S healing_belle has an app called the Whole Pantry.. it is amazing! Go check it out!

Take care of yourselves!

Top 5 indulgent food experiences around Auckland

These are simple, affordable, tasty treats that I loveee!

If you want a tasty, healthy, filling breakfast I recommend going to Little Bird Organics. They have the most amazing clean eating, mostly raw, organic food. In the picture below I had the Chia Bircher and a Tropical Green Smoothie. It was absolutely delicious and I didn't feel hungry until well into the afternoon! I wanted to buy EVERYTHING in the cafe. Just knowing that there are so many mouth watering options available and they're guilt free just ticked all my boxes. If you want to know more about clean eating have a look at my post which should be up later today (and it'll be on the healthy living tab :))

The following items are not so healthy but hey, you deserve a treat once in a while ;)

First treat is an ice cream from Giapo... For those of you who know about Giapo you will feel my joy and if you don't know about them.. please go try it and then you can feel my joy too. Seriously though, not only do their ice creams tantalise your tastebuds but they are some serious forms of art. Each order is uniquely designed, depending on the flavour of your ice cream will depend on the toppings you receive... In the picture below I had the salted caramel ice cream and they topped it with chocolate, a little eclair type pastry but with some sort of cream/custard filling and they even put some sort of berry puree and caramel sauce. Heaven. Oh but did I mention that Giapo also source their ingredients locally and are organic?? How awesome is that! I can also vouch the pistachio ice cream being amazing so definitely give that one a go to too :)

The second treat is also of the ice cream type.... It's a gelato stick from Milse! Milse also create works of art with their culinary devices... honestly perfection! I think what I had was a green tea, matcha and strawberry gelato stick. It just melts in your mouth and whilst you bite into it you can smell the sweet aromas of the strawberries. They were some kind of dried out crunchy strawberries with a fluffly texture. I was totally sitting there feeling like I was drifting on clouds haha. Take me back any day!!

Another treat I have to expose is something available not just in central Auckland but pretty much in every nook and cranny all over New Zealand! It's an Iced Mocha Frappe from none other than Columbus. Hands down they create the best Iced Mochas I have ever tried.. and I have tried my fair share. If you want a refreshing, chocolatey, coffee tasting, caffeine fix, grab yourself one of these from Columbus and just close your eyes and take it all in... yup amazing.

And one more treat which I'm alwayyyys craving is.. drumroll please... FEIJOA AND APPLE SMOOTHIE. Wow. Definitely my favourite smoothie flavour! I don't understand how someone could hate feijoas :O but if you want the best feijoa smoothie head to Crave. Not only do they taste amazing but Crave give all their profits towards destroying poverty of any kind. I don't know about you but I think that is an awesome thing to be apart of! Good on you Crave! But if you aren't able to head to Crave and you've got a local Columbus around they also do great feijoa and apple smoothies just like their iced mochas :) I don't have a picture of the smoothie so you'll just have to trust me!

Hope this gives any Auckland goers some insight into the gems that lay right under our noses!

What are some other posts you'd like me to cover? I'll try my best!
Fell free to comment on any of my posts I'd love to hear from you!

Go take yourself out on a 'me' day today and treat yourself... go on!

A few of my favourite things

These are a few of my essentials. I LOVE the 'I love' range! Everything smells so delicious, from the strawberries to the mango to the papaya :) mmm!! Also my Fossil watch is always on me, It goes with EVERYTHING, I'm so happy with it! I always used to buy really cheap (and I mean cheap) watches and literally the next day they were ready to be binned D; so i'm glad I found something that is so versatile. I mean yes it tells the time obviously but it's also like a piece of jewellery which is always great for a little extra something! Now... you either hate it or like it but I definitely like it: WHITE NAIL POLISH.. Oh yes I went there! This is definitely a trend thats been strutting its stuff on the cat walks lately and it's a great one! It goes with anything, it makes your hands look neat and tidy and somehow emphasises the length of your nails. It's a casual yet sophisticated colour that just screams HELLO because they're so bright! And last but definitely not least is my floral headband. Every girl needs one of these! Whether you're off to frolic in the meadows or off on a night out with your girls you need this piece on your head. Enough said.

Hope you all had a swell day!

Love always,
